Registration for the 2017-18 season opens August 1.
This program will continue to nurture existing competitive swimmers in addition to recruiting swimmers not already involved in competitive swimming. All participants are required to be members of the Christian County YMCA. Participants 8 & under should be able to swim 25 yards, freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly & backstroke without holding onto the lap lanes or wall. Participants 9 & up should be able to swim 50 yards; freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly & backstroke without holding onto the lap lanes or wall.
13 & up: 4-5 pm
12 & under and new swimmers: 5-6 pm
September 2017 through March 2018
Must be a YMCA Member
YMCA Members can swim September for free to try out the program!
Rate: $210-one time fee or Bank Draft-$35 a month
Swimmers can ride the YMCA bus for free.
No registrations will be taken after November 30, 2017.
Youth Swim Lessons
YMCA Swim Lessons Program is divided into two divisions and six levels. The first division is Swim Basics: swimmers develop a high level of comfort in
the water by practicing safe water habits, engaging in underwater exploration,
and learning how to swim to safety and exit. Level included are: Level 1 Water
Acclimation, Level 2 Water Movement and Level 3 Water Stamina. The next division is Swim Strokes. After mastering the fundamentals, students
learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique, developing
skills that prevent chronic disease and foster a lifetime of physical
activity. Levels included are: Level 4 Stroke Introduction, Level 5 Stroke
Development and Level 6 Stroke Mechanics.
Must have 5 Registered swimmers to run a class.

The Junior Lifeguarding Course is designed to build a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards. Participants are not required to master or perfectly execute skills. They should learn techniques and build stamina during this program. This course does not certify participants in First Aid, CPR, AED or Lifeguarding.
Course Prerequisites: Must swim 25 yd. Freestyle and Breaststroke, Tread water 1 minute, Float on back 30 seconds and submerge and swim 10 ft underwater.
